The story American Psycho is a novel written by Bret Easton Ellis; the story is about a man named Patrick Bateman. Patrick Bateman is a rich guy who works on Wallstreet, he is what you’d call a yuppie. A yuppie is short for “urban professional people” Patrick Bateman is known as the nice and put together guy next door, but in reality, is Patrick Bateman a vicious serial killer. Patrick Bateman kills innocent victims like a child at the zoo and is almost disgusted by the cheering crowd and by how happy they are.

The Essay:

"You are a fucking ugly bitch, I want to knife you to death and play with your blood," says the narrator.

American Psycho, written by Bret Easton Ellis in 1991, is a controversial and divisive work of fiction in which the distressing remark appears. Because of its incredible amount of filth, gore, and unfathomable wickedness, the work has sparked a slew of debates about the bounds of literature (and whether or not they exist). Bret Easton Ellis, on the other hand, has previously created novels comparable to American Psycho in which satire is used to incorporate bits and pieces of constructive social criticism through very well written and darkly humored vignettes.
