The short story "Going Home" written by Archie Weller from 1986 is about a young man who turns twenty-one. Billy Woodward goes to college in Perth where he plays football. After a football game, he sees one of his opponent being picked up by his family, which makes Billy think of his own family. Billy decides to go home to his family to celebrate his birthday. When he gets to his hometown, he finds out that, his father is dead and that his mother is disappointed that he did not come home for his father's funeral. Billy and his family goes out to celebrate his birthday. Billy gets a gold watch from his brother Carlton as a present. Suddenly the police comes and arrest billy and Carlton. In the beginning billy does not know why he are arrest but it is because Carlton has stolen the gold watch he gave to Billy.

The young man called Billy Woodward but he is also known as William Jacob Woodward among white people. Billy Woodward is the name given to him by his family and William Jacob Woodward is the name he uses when he is with people from Perth. Billy is a full-blood Aboriginal but he is ashamed of his family behaviour because they are a bunch of drunken people therefore does he not like his family. Billy is athletic building as a result of that he plays football. Moreover, Billy also likes to paint and he I good at it, that shows that billy have a sensitive side. Billy has become expected and he is quite shocked when he comes home to his hometown because he is accustomed to being treated like one of the white.
