Roger McGough writes the poem “First Day At School”. In the poem the boy feels that the school is much different to the things he is used to at home. In the school there is a lot noisier and there are other small children everywhere. At home he is used to knowing all the people around him but in school he does not know any of the people that are walking around him, on the playground the other people do not want to play with him, because he is new and shy. First of all it is a whole new world for him, and he is a long way from home. The boy in the story is also very, very nervous and cannot remember his name, and is hoping that his mom has written it somewhere on him. The Boy in the poem is very young because he thinks that the railings around the playground to keep monsters out, which only small children have that kind of fantasy.
I cannot really remember so much from my first school day, since I was so small and it was a long time ago, but I still do remember some things and my parents have told many stories about my first day at school.
