Racism in USA is about how they treated people differently because of their skin colour and beliefs. The Africans/the dark coloured were not considered as humans like the rest of the world. Racism and ethnic discrimination in the United States of America had always been an issue, and Racism has existed throughout human history. Its arrival came when the Europeans arrived in America. Europeans believed the original inhabitants of America were heathens and savages who needed to be civilized through Christianity and European culture. This let to mass murders and stolen land. The Europeans also wanted to change the Americans traditions. With all that the racism came too.
Racism has a lot to do with slavery. In the 17th century, African people were kidnapped from their homeland in Africa, brought to America, and sold as slaves. They were split from their wives and children, which they never saw again. Some of the slaves were even known as royalties or literate. Afterwards they were forced in labor at families or on claustrophobic boats where they were chained together by their hands and feet side by side in dark cargo room at the bottom of the ship. Many died or got sick during the time on the boats because of the horrifying conditions and the extremely cramped boats. The civil war ended in the 1865 and with it the slavery was abolished.
