The European refugee crisis has become a very hot subject, and it has in my opinion, become something that you just can’t ignore any longer. It slowly began in 2015, when a lot of refugees started to leave their homes, because of war and poverty for example, to then make the travel to Europe, to get a fresh start, and to try to start a completely new life.
The refugees mainly travelled from Western and South Asia, Africa, and the Western Balkans. But the nations that people were and are making their escape from we´re very clear. The nations are Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq. These nations all have something in common. They have all been affected terribly by war situations, and war and terrorism are still affecting these nations to this date. And because of all this stuff going on, people wanted to leave as soon as possible. And that has unfortunately also resulted in a lot of deaths, and is still is. This is because a lot of people were so desperate to get away, that their sense was non-existent. A lot of these people then decided to cross the Mediterranean Sea, in small boats, and a lot of these times it unfortunately resulted in big tragedies. This basically happened because of that too many people travelled on the same boat, and then it is just bound to sink. But in April 2015 this situation escalated, and really gained a lot of people attention. This was because of when five boats sank in Mediterranean Sea with around 2.000 people in total, and this in total resulted in around 1.200 deaths.
