In the highlands of Scotland in the 1700s, Rob Roy tries to lead his small town to a better future, by borrowing money to buy cattle to herd to market. Unfortunately it doesn’t go that easy. A selfish nobleman from England, called Archibald Cunningham, steals Rob Roy’s money. Rob Roy tries to borrow some more money, but it also failed. Unable to repay the loan and unwilling to give up his land, Rob Roy becomes a lawless. Suddenly he is hunted by Archibald Cunningham. Archibald also rapes Rob Roy’s wife Mary, but Mary keeps it as a awful secret. She is afraid that Rob Roy will do something hasty and foolhardy.
Later Archibald Cunningham and his men, finds Rob Roy. But Rob Roy is the hero in the movie, and of course he escapes. The honor of Rob Roy has been violated, and he wants revenge. It all ends up with a bloody duel between Rob Roy and Archibald Cunningham. Throughout the entire duel it seems that Archibald will win, because Rob Roy is tired and wounded…. But Rob Roy wins because of Archibald confidence and overweening…Before the duel began, Rob Roy made a deal. If he won, he did not have to pay back his debt! Suddenly Rob Roy did not owed anything to anybody - he was free! The only thing he wanted was to go back home. Home to his beloved wife and his two lovely children....
