ATLA FOODS were founded in spring 2000 by a fusion between the 2 dairy companies the

Danish MD FOODS and the Swedish ARLA ekonomisk förening.

One of the reasons was to give the company a size that would match the customers- the large

international supermarket chains.

Arla Foods is a co-operative society owned by approx 9.400 Danish and Swedish dairy producers.

The company is the second largest in Europe and number 7 worldwide seen by turnover.

Turnover 2006: 45,.5 billion Danish cr.

The numbers are included the amount of milk and the turnover from the British subsidiary company

Arla Foods UK plc.

The account numbers for 2006 don’t include Arla Foods new activities in Finland.

Arla Foods bought 30 % of the stockings in the Finnish dairy concern Ingman Foods Oy AB, in the fall

2006 and within the next 3 years they have the opportunity to buy the remaining 70% of the stockings.

The new company is called Arla Ingman Oy Ab, and is the second largest dairy company in Finland.

The Arla Foods products can be bought in more than 100 countries.

Arla Foods has production in 11 countries and sale offices in 24.
