Analyse af Urvashi Butalias 'Blood'

The short excerpt “Blood” written by Urvashi Butalia in 1997, is about one of the most important days marked in history, 1947. The day where Hindustan parted into two separate nations, based on religious differences. The Muslim nation known as Pakistan, and the Indian state known as India. More than twelve million people abandoned their homes, to cross the other side, where one million were either, killed, raped, or abducted. Urvashi speaks up for the many survivors who have been silenced due to the pain that has played a big role in their lives. She collected stories from the survivor´s individual experiences and lets them know that their voices matter. The individuals who she interviews reveal that, in private at least, the voices of division have not fallen silent, and the bitterness remains.
