Filmanalyse af 'Precious'

Precious is an American movie directed and produced by Lee Daniels. The movie was released on 16 January 2009 in the US.

The film is about a 16-year-old girl called Claireece “Precious” Jones. She lives in the Harlem neighborhood of New York with her unemployed mother. She has two children with her father because she’s been raped by him. Her first kid Mongo has down syndrome and is being cared for by her grandmother. Precious’s mom, Mary, force the family to pretend that Mongo lives with her and Precious so she can get extra money from the system. Precious’s rector discovered her second pregnancy and recommended an alternative school, where she hoped she would change her life’s direction. At her new school, each one, teach one, her teacher, Mrs. Rain, told her to write dairy every day, then she could be better to read and write. Precious met with a social worker and told her about the incest in her house.

After giving her second child, Abdul, birth at the hospital, she returns back to her home. Her mom carelessly dropped her 3-day-old grandson on the floor, and pushed Precious into a wall. Because of the incest couldn’t her mom get money from the system anymore. Precious fought back and ran away with Abdul. Next morning her teacher, Mrs. Rain found her in her classroom at the school. Mrs. Rain called local shelters looking for a safe place for precious to stay. Precious stayed with Mrs. Rain and her girlfriend.
