The novel is about a woman who works as cashier, at BI-LO and her marriage was broken for long time ago. The 2 sons of her is grown up and moved out, so her only company is the German shepherd named Ollie. She got obsessed with the case which is a murder, where the murder confessed he had buried a girl, west from the city Kingsville close, to where she lives. She got so obsessed with the case, that she doesn't do anything else, then search for the girl every day. Even her childrens got worried for her and told her to stop. After 2 and a half year, she finally found the girls body.

The main character works as cashier at BI-LO and because of that, can we tell that, she is an average woman. She has an ordinary job and and average income. (Page 8 line 1 “She was cashier at a Bi-LO”.)

She lives home alone with her dog, so she doesn't have that much contact with, other peoples, else then the customers at her work. Page (Soon after that her two boys moved out of the house, leaving Ollie, her German shepherd', as her sole companion”). When the woman starts to get consumed by the case and talking about it, people tell her she's getting crazy and she should stop. (page 8 line 4 “so much.. her to stop). (page 9 line 58 “as the agent said... was crazy”).
