The story is set at the time of the Great Depression in the United States in 1930. They are about people's hatred of blacks. The father hated blacks so that his son also has a hatred of blacks. He inherited it from his father. The story is told by his son, whose father arise in the organization of the Ku Klux Klan. The boy tells himself that he has a good relationship with his father, even though they can not talk about everything. The father has an alcohol abuse and death as 48 years. The narrator get married and get two kids. One child was born blind and retarded. He never said a word and he do not really know his father. But the father shows him that he loves him, and he shows his care. ”One child was born blind and retarded, wich was a real additional expense to us. He’s never spoken a world. He doesnt know me when i go to see him. But i see him. I hug his neck. I talk to him i love him.” Site 1, line 43.
