Normality Most people want to be normal. But what is normal nowadays? The understanding of the concept normality can be very different from person to person and there are different views on it. However the culture of the country we live in also decides the definition of normality. Beyond this we also need to look at how a person thinks what is normal and what is not. Some people may think that something is normal while other people thinks it is abnormal. By this you cannot actually define normality because it is a very wide word and it contains different definitions embossed by norms and values. The world needs to think again what we mean by the words “normal” and “abnormal.” This is not an idle question without real consequences. If we look at disorders the treatment of every single mental disorder that psychiatric diagnose like ADHD is linked to how society understands "normal" and "abnormal." This matter influences millions of people annually and affects everyone since a person's mental model of what normal is enormously influenced by how the society define "normal.” ?Someone with a mental disorder has behaviors feelings and thoughts that are different from the norm and society's view on normality and they are mentioned as abnormal people. The matter of what is normal cannot be and must not be based on statistics. It cannot be and must not be "normal" to be a Christian just because over 1973 million people of the world is Christian. It can't be and must not be "normal" to be attracted to someone of the opposite gender just because 90% of the general population is heterosexual. "Normal" cannot mean and must not mean what we see all the time or what we see the most of. My point is that human beings cannot judge other people if they are normal or abnormal by mental ?illnesses? because the concept “normal”. It is a wide concept and nobody can define exactly what the word normality contains because it depends on the perspectives and people has different views on the word.
