I had a lot of different thoughts about the movie Brokeback Mountain. My first thought about two cowboys who were in love. was that it was cutie. I love when many different kinds of love are shown in movies. I have heard much about USA in 1963 and how they didn’t respect gays. They were so disrespectful of the homosexuals. If you were gay in that period, you could be killed ore assaulted. Homosexuality did not belong in USA in those times.
The movie sets in 1963 and it plays a big difference compared to today. As I said there was in USA in 1963 a big lack of respect for gays. Gays felt guilty and a shame and had to live double lives.
In Brokeback Mountains Ennis had a big problem with his felling’s for jack. He would not admit to his feelings and would not stand by his sexuality.
But nowadays guys who love guys are much more free to be who they are and be in relationship whit each other. It is far from the taboo to be gay today as it was then. Today there are many different kinds of sexualities. From transgender to lesbians. However, it is still today harder to be gay in America compared to Denmark. It is for instance not legal for gays to get married in all states in the US. To compare, Denmark was the first country in the world to allow gays to be married.
