Boredom becomes more expensive as we age

In the article: “Bored teens cost parents £3,600 in the holidays” by Nicola Woolcock, which was published in The Times, July 10, 2015, states that the summer holiday is a joyful and terrific time for everybody, aside from teenagers and their parents. According to a survey, parents could be forced to fork out £3,600, just so their teenagers could be occupied.

A research made by the National Citizen Service, a holiday youth programme, shows that out of 1000 15- to 17-year-olds questioned, 6 percent expected their parents to spend £300 to £400 a week on them during the summer, while 2 percent said their parents would spend £400 to £600 a week, to keep them busy.

One in five was trying to find ways to avoid going on family vacations, which explain these high amounts of money. Teens are endeavoring to fill up every single hour of spare time they have, which is why they are planning for the future, so they have everything meticulously planned. This results in that teenagers don’t have a single hour a week, where they don’t know what to do.
