Nelson Mandela is a loyal and disciplined man who has fought for equal rights. Nelson Mandela is a fearless man. He is not afraid of any big responsibility. When he was sent to prison, he experiences hard things. Nevertheless, he is proud of what he has succeeded. He is an intelligent man who has completed Junior Certificate in two years, instead of the usual three. He thinks that education is extremely important. It is a good way for poor children to move out of poverty.
However, he became a member of the African National Congress and later on, he became the leader of the organization. Nelson Mandela fought for his people and the right to be free. Later on, he was sent to prison for twenty-seven years as a result of anti-apartheid activities. In prison, he became close friends with a man called Warrant Officer Swart. During the time in prison, he became a living martyr amongst the black people of South Africa.
Today, he is a symbol of their struggle against apartheid and at the same time a symbol of the international opposition. After his release, he made history by becoming the first black president of South Africa.
