Ray Bradbury’s “The Veldt” is set place in an advanced future, where technology plays a major part in humans every day. Machines caries all practical chores and creature comforts. George and Lydia Hadley the parents, of a “Happylife home” let the home replace the parents parenting-role, resulting in the children Peter and Wendy becoming emotionally attached to the house. The phycologist David McClean helps the parents realize the extreme abnormality of the situation, which ultimately leads to the parents trying to terminate the house, to try and connect with the children again. Peter and Wendy’s reaction to the termination of the house leads to the killing of the parents.

INTRODUCTION:

In an ever increasingly progressing world, where new technologies, replaces the need of humans. It is important to reflect about the positive but especially also the negative consequences of letting technology replace and dominate. Technologies impacts are already being studied, since it’s already dragging attention away from the human interactions. With the ever growing outspread of science fiction gadgets as virtual reality and automated progresses. The short story “The Veldt” by Ray Bradbury discuss the consequences of technological advancements replacing personal care and affection, from human interactions and general human purpose like housekeeping.
