Have you ever tried to relive a moment of your own life?
Mexico City is a good example of this. In the short story, Ray Bradbury describes how an old man longs to experience Mexico City again as a young man. For instance, have you ever thought of a memory, and thought you wanted to experience that again?
“Mexico City” was written in 1950, and the short story’s original name was “The Window”
The topic of this essay is how old people are forced to be living in nursing homes, with caretakers and help, when all they want to do is, to experience life again – without anyone trying to take care of them. My main idea of the topic is when I get old myself, I do not want to sit in some home and be taken care of. I would much rather be living on my own, and not be inside of a home all the time. It must be very lonely, or very boring.
In the short story, the old man is called Colonel Freeleigh. Freeleigh has a nurse at home, which name is not mentioned. Colonel Freeleigh also has a friend called Jorge. Jorge lives in Mexico City, and freeleigh really want to experience the city again, so he eagerly keeps calling Jorge to sit and enjoy all the sounds that emits from the city.
