My topic is “Segregation in the 18 and 19th century U.S”

I chose the topic “Segregation in the 18 and 19th century U.S” for the reason of it being a really big part of American history. It changed a lot in the country, but before 1865 it was different.

Civil war

The civil war lasted for 4 years. It was a fight between the northern and southern states. The southern states had a lot of slaves, but the northern states had fever slaves

The northern states wanted to make an end to that slavery, and the war began in 1861. In 1863 Abraham Lincoln signed the emancipation proclamation, so there was no slavery in the country, but the war ended in 1865.

After the civil war ended, there were still people that hated the blacks, and they made a group called Ku Klux Klan. They killed innocent black people, and beat them up, and they were anonymous, because they had a mask and a costume on, so no one knew who they were.
