Many things seem so harmless, but can do so much damage. Who knew that eating a bat, could lead to a deadly virus taking over the world? It caught the world off guard. A situation no one was even thinking about, and definitely not a situation people were ready to prepare for. The Poem “you clap for me now” is written by Darren James Smith. You clap for me now speaks up about the current situation surrounding the pandemic and the situation in Britain. Anti-Racism is one of the main themes alongside the Covid-19 pandemic.

The title is very moving, considering the fact that before the pandemic, immigrants were widely seen as jobstealing individuals. However, during these times, actually risking their lives for the greater good of Britain they state to the majority, that “You clap for me now” because now, they’re the reason you’re safe.
