The Mississippi Burning is an 1988 American film, but it's based on true events from 1964, when three Northern civil rights activists disappeared in a small Mississippi town and the FBI was sent to investigate.

The film is directed by Alan Parker

The agent who was in charge was Agent Alan Ward. Him and his partner, Agent Rupert Anderson was sent to a mission to investigate the three people there were missing and murdered. Agent Rupert Anderson was a sheriff from Mississippi before joining the FBI and he knew the local culture. Agent Rupert Anderson was willing to break the rules if it helps the investigation. Agent Rupert Anderson and Agent Alan Ward focused on the sheriff’s office and Deputy Clinton Pell. But further into the investigation, the KKK found out that they are being investigated, and they made a series of attacks against the African American citizens. When Agent Alan Ward went to the African Americans they were attacked by the KKK no one dared to speak and finally Agent Alan Ward agreed to Agent Rupert Anderson’s idea to find out who killed the three civilians.
