The story of The witcher is in a fictional, medieval/fantasy-inspired world on a
landmass known as the continent. The Main area where A grain of truth plays
out is in the northern part of the continent in the forest, close to a city called
Murival in Redania. Forest is covered with fallen leaves since it is autumn.
There is a symbolic meaning behind the season being autumn. The meaning
behind is like nature the castle Nivellen lives in is falling apart just like the
leaves fall from trees. It's even more apparent when you remember that the
palace used to be exquisite and luxurious. The symbolism could also be
referring to the fall of Nivellens family and noble power since it went from a
progressive Nobel family with everything to an abandoned and decaying
castle.
The important parts of A grain of truth happen in Nivellen’s Castle. The area
around the castle ''is a horrible area'', and ''the forest is not the safest of
places at night'' quoted by Nivellen.
Throughout the story there is always an uneasy feeling radiating from both
Geralt and the environment. The uneasiness comes from the secrets and
hints from different things in the surroundings and conversations with Nivellen.
