Braveheart: Film Summary and Plot Analysis

The film begins at Lanark in the year 1276, also known as the main character William Wallace’s home village. William Wallace experiences a lot as a child, because his father and his brother got killed at the same war, and his mother died giving birth to William Wallace. At this point all hope seems gone for William Wallace because his father and his brother were his only family at this point, and now they are dead, but out of nowhere at his father and brothers funereal, at the funereal a little girl named Murron walks up to William Wallace and gives him a flower. Also at his father and brothers funereal, his unknown uncle Argyle shows up, to take care of him. His uncle takes care of him for many years, but unfortunately his uncle dies, and William Wallace returns to his old hometown Lanark. At this point Murron still lives in Lanark and William Wallace are about to take affair by riding up to her house to ask her i she would like to join him in such a wonderful evening. Later on William Wallace and Murron get married secretly in the forest. Because if they don’t, then Murron has to spend the night with the English nobles also known as “Prima Nocte”, even though they try to keep it secret, they do get caught by the nobles, and the nobles wants to spend the first evening with her, Murron bites a noble and then they are about to cut her neck and kill her. The nobles kill Murron and William Wallace wants revenge, so he rides up to the nobles tower where the man who did this is appearing, William Wallace kills all the soldiers, and continues his manslaughter with several other freedom fighters, he does this because William Wallace has a mission, his mission is to save Scotland and declare it as a independent country. William Wallace continues his killing spree and he becomes the First Lord of Scotland for all his slaughters of English nobles and his believe in freedom and love. William Wallace’s day has come where he gets betrayed by the Scottish noble Robert Bruce, how’s about to be the new King of England if his plans successes. Robert Bruce tells one of his nobles that he shall tell William Wallace that they want to be a part of his freedom force and he do believe in William Wallace. So William Wallace ride up to the English castle where Robert Bruce is waiting for him, his men assaults him and locks him up. The final day has come for William Wallace. Before they are about to cut his neck he shouts “Freedom”.
