Carpe Diem: personlige oplevelser og valg

Carpe Diem or Seize the day are an old saying and it means to take a chance or to do something that you wouldn’t do normally. Like if you jump out in a parachute for the first time. But it can also be the smaller things like if you ask a beautiful girl out. To seize the day can also mean that you make sure that you get a good education, so you can make something extraordinary out of yourself and get a good life.

I don’t know how many times I have “seized the day” in my life but I believe I have seized the day many times in my life. And the time I remember best was when I for the first time was going to try rappelling. The thing that makes me remember it so well was because it was so nerve braking. Because when you have the rope in your hands and you are standing on the edge and looking down of a 50 meters high tower, it’s very scary. And it takes a lot of courage to take the first step down. And you know that after the first step it’s only the rope that’s holds you. But you tell yourself that if you don’t do it now you will regret it afterwards. So you gather all your courage together, and you take the first step. And I would call that to “Seize the day” because you took the chance and you made it, and by taking that chance you become an experience richer.
