Today we live in a democratic country. We are not communist or Nazis so we can live our lives however we want to, if it is in a legal way. There is no law that says that living like they did in the year 1800 is forbidden, if you just do not disturb other people around you.
The Amish people live with no electricity or modern inventions, in accordance with god and the nature. They do not try to talk you into their society and try to be self-supporting. They are harmless and do not bother anyone.
After my opinion they have all the right to practice their religion and they give their children a chance to decide if they want to be Amish or not. The conclusion is that the Amish look after themselves and their families and help each other in their own society. I do not see a problem, and I think the Amish have a special but interesting culture. I personally admire them and think they should be proud of themselves.
When that’s said, I still think it would be very hard for me, if I suddenly had to be a part of the Amish culture. It would be different if I was borned into there lifestyle, but when I in fifteen years had been use to a normal living; it would be very difficult to change lifestyle in such radical way.
