he Amish people are a Christian religious society, who was established around the 16th century. In order to be exact, it was formed in 1693. A bishop in Alsace named Jacob Amman, said that the Bible's words were the most sacred and that it had complied with fully. He also believed that offenders should be rejected - or excommunicated, as the Amish people said. It said the other Anabaptists not. Jacob Amman formed his own group - Amish.

They didn’t believe that the church was challenging enough, so they started their own religion. They are Anabaptists, which means that baptism is only for adults, and not for children. They isolated themselves in small societies around in Europe, but when the space for them got smaller, and they didn’t could enjoy the religious freedom, they got invited to the U.S. by President William Penn. After that they started to emigrate to America, and they came to Lancaster County in Ohio. They also emigrated to Pennsylvania in 1727. They traveled from Europe because of religious persecution. They were accused of infidelity. Many were burned at the stake.

In 1800s another wave of Amish came to America. The Amish people are mostly famers.
