The genre fantasy first came up in the first part of the 18’Th century. Since then plenty of great well-known fantasy books have been written, books of all sort, books that not our wildest imagination could dream.

One of the best examples would be J.R.R Tolkien’s :”the hobbit or there and back again”, from 1937, which is a story about a Hobbit, who explores the world defeating dragons, trolls and protecting a magic ring from the evil Sauron, who has evil plans with it. Thereafter three more books followed, which were a continuation of the hobbit. The following books also contain magical creatures, and we follow the magic ring through the whole story. It is said, that the hobbit is a childfriendly story, and that the other get rougher.

C.S. Lewis was a close friend to J.R.R Tolkien. C.S. Lewis wrote his most famous book: “Narnia, the lion, the witch and the wardrobe”, in 1950. The book has been adapted several times for radio, stage, cinema and television. The story takes place during World War II. After several air raid children from London get send to the countryside. The Pevensie siblings stay in an old professor’s house. By a coincidence they find a secret passage to the magical land of Narnia through an old wardrobe. In Narnia which is under the spell of the evil White Witch, they meet talking animals and they develop personally.
