Pangma-La is a young girl who lives in Scotland with her mother and father. Her father is a well known mountaineer, and he is often on television. Pangma-La is the name of a mountain her father has climbed. Pangma-La looks up to her father, and she tries never to disappoint him.
I think Pangma-La’s father have a big influence on her, and she is does a lot of things, just to make him proud, that she might would not have done, if her father didn’t have so high expectations to her. In the story do we not hear about friends or other family members but the father and mother, so she can maybe be very isolated for her friends, if she has any at all?
The day’s up to the climb is Pangma-La very sensitive because she fells a big pressure under her father's expectations.

In the start of the story, is the father very proud of her daughter, and he thinks she can do anything. But when he tells her that they are going to climb the mountain and she starts crying, I think his expectations for her, sinks to a very low level. But then he finds the fighter spirit, and starts believe in her again. His strong faith in her I shown very clear, when they at the bottom of the mountain, says no to the Sherpa’s which is offering them to carry their backpacks. On the way to the top at the mountain, the father is thinking Pangma-La is doing fine, and his expectations for her I very high. But when he reaches the top, without her, I think he gets very disappointed of her, because he might thinks she has stopped without telling him. But he changes and starts believe more in her when the goddess lives her up from death.
