Men don’t want a cut in the amount of working hours, but on the other hand they like to have more control over how, when and where they work.
2)
The attitude of the companies to flexible working is now, that they can see the benefits of offering flexibility. They know that they can attract the best people in this way and at the same time it’s motivational, because it’s easier to suit peoples lifestyle. The result of this is that Flexible workers have been shown to outperform full-time colleagues.
3)
Carol Savage didn’t like the flexible hours at first, because her colleagues never got used to it. Quoting from the text she’s saying “If I left the office at 5.45pm someone would always look up and say, Half day?". Even that, she was working hard as ever, she felt as if she was not committed.
Opgave 2
I choose to write about the benefits of flexible working hours for employers as well as for employees.
The benefits for employers:
The biggest benefit in my opinion is that the employers, gain the ability to attract the best people and the recruitment part is presumably a lot easier, when offering flexible working hours. Probably the employees would be more satisfied with their job, which often result in better morale, higher motivation, bigger enthusiasm and improvements in effectiveness. It’s not only the employees who would be affected and satisfied, also the customers could I imagine would be more satisfied and loyal.
