The film we saw is called Billy Elliot, and it is directed by Stephen Daldry.
Most of the time, the film takes place in Everington in the northeast of England. It is a small town where there are brick houses with nearby green fields, and you can often see the ocean in the background. Billy Elliot is set in 1984-85.
The film has a lot of themes. Sport, money, family and identity are some of them. I would say that the film is a drama film, and it is told in main person.
The most important person in the film is definitely Billy Elliot, but Jackie and Mrs. Wilkinson are also very important because they all three create the story together.
Billy Elliot is a little 11-year-old boy. He doesn’t like boxing, but ballet is his big passion. He is a little thin boy who tries to please everybody but himself. He is a short, timid boy who in the end becomes a very brave boy, because he stands up to his father.
Jackie is the father of Billy. He wants Billy to go boxing instead of dancing. He is a hardworking, poor father, who has lost his wife and therefore has to deal with everything alone. He also has another child called Tony. Billy’s older brother.
