Marilyn Manson og Columbine: Skyldsspørgsmålet

Marilyn Manson is not to blame for such things as school shootings in this case: the columbine massacre. He is just a musician trying to entertain with his music, which happens to refer to sex, drugs and violence, but that’s just the way that he expresses himself. It’s not a message to people to go out and do all those things. Some maybe have a different opinion about that, and may blame and call the lyrics irresponsible, but it’s still not a good enough reason why they should go and shoot down a school. Millions of people listen to Marilyn Manson, and they don’t go out and shoot down people. The way he dresses is also just how he expresses himself; it’s just the media who makes a big deal out of it. The media is one of the most powerful things in the world. They can turn all the attention of the world on Marilyn Manson, who really hasn’t done anything bad, and make him look like the bad guy. Meanwhile people forget more serious things, just because it isn’t in the media. After the Columbine shooting reports said that Klebold and Harris were dressed like Marilyn Manson the day before they went out shooting. Everybody believed it, and blamed him even though it just was a report. After, they confirmed that it wasn’t true. That’s an example on the Medias power.If anything is to blame it must be how they grew up, their relationships with their parents and how their life’s and surroundings were. All that affect kids mentally and pretty much decides how they will be and act. The parents could be the ones to blame, because one of the dads actually gave his son a gun, which I probably assume he used in the massacre. Klebold and Harris didn’t have many friends and were bullied too, which also could have been decisive.
