- How old is Nick? Find evidence of his age in the text and argue your point

In the text I have found evidence that supports my conclusion of Nick being approximately seven to ten years old. This estimate I have based on the following:

His father talks to him in a very childish manner; when he is explaining things to Nick he does it very clearly even though Nick most likely has a rough idea of what is going on and happening, since he has been pulled out of bed very early to accompany his father. Nick also responds using a language most kids “grow out of” when they hit puberty like calling their parents “Mommy and Daddy” as Nick does on more than one occasion. The clues about Nick’s age is not only found in his dialogue but also his father’s when he calls Nick “Nickie” this is usually type of nickname that parents call their children in their younger years since it’s a more informal personal way of using his name but given that this is the only time in the text that his father refers to him as “Nickie” instead of simply “Nick” suggest that Nick may be going through a transition that normally starts from the age of seven-eight where the child slowly becomes more and more independent and some of the more childish habits will drop, like the informal nicknames and calling the parents Mommy and Daddy.
