Billy Elliot is a book which is also made into a film but the film was released in 2000 and the book was released in 2001. It is a about an 11 year old boy called Billy Elliot. He lives in Everington in the northeast of England. He lives with his father Jackie, his brother Tony, his grandmother (his mothers mum) in a small house.Billys mother died 2 years ago and his father is struggling to look after them. Billy loves to do ballet and he hates boxing but his dad loves boxing and hates ballet. Michael is Billy’s best friend well the only friend Michael has is Billy. Michael always dresses up as a girl, wearing makeup, his sister’s dresses and skirts and all sort of girly things. That’s probably why he doesn’t have any friends. All the boys laugh at him and call him a poof. Well Billy his only friend calls him a poof too. Jackie and Tony are both miners and they are struggling with their jobs because of the strike. All the miners are fighting against the police for their jobs. The only reason Jackie likes boxing is because he did it and his father did so he wants Billy to do it as well. But Billy hates boxing, he always jumps around on the boxing ring. He loves dancing. Then Billy once went to ballet to see how it is. He saw lots of girls and he knew some of them, like Debbie from his school. Mrs Wilkinson is Debbie’s mum and she teaches Billy to dance and then his father finds out and gets angry. But his father has realised that Billy has a talent. So Billy goes to London for auditions and he gets through to London. His dad and everyone is very happy and pleased with Billy.
