In the hunt for better and better results more elite athletes are now focusing on the diet. Experts around the world are working on finding the right diet to get the best results on the sports fields. The idea is to find the right amount of carbohydrates and proteins and at the right time.

One of the basic rules, if you are training more than one and a half hour a day, is that half of the meal should be carbohydrates. Which are e.g. potatoes, rice and pasta. One firth of the meal should be proteins. Which are e.g. meat, fish and chicken. The last firth should be vegetables and fruit.

The Carbohydrates gives energy to the brain, the nerve system, the heart and the muscles. The proteins are the building blocks for the muscles. The fat also gives energy to the muscles and the heart but the carbohydrate gives a quicker transformation into energy.

A grown man that weights 80 kilos and train intensively needs 560-800 gram carbohydrates per day and 96-160 gram proteins per day. The right amount of carbohydrates and proteins is important both to perform your best when you are active and to recover after training.
