Joel Davis had a great life living in a small town Islington near London in Great Britain, until his role model known as his father past away of terrible disease called cancer. The dead of his father took it hard on the family, specially his mom who is now sick and not doing well. He was around 14 years old when the dead of his father and his mother being sick happened, after that he chose to quit school because the economy part was low and they got poor. He was now helping his mother and doing all the chores at home and he didn´t have any other siblings, he was only child. To keep the economy in the house working, he got a job as a servant in a rich house in the neighborhood. The family he was working with where all sweet and nice to him, they never bullied him or treated him terribly. Specially the mother in the rich house liked Joel a lot, she was generous that she pays for his education. He and his mother where forever thankful and couldn’t thank her enough. Joel has always loved school he always wanted to be a doctor and help other people and children. But the problem being doctor is that you should get high grades and that you can read, Joel has always struggled with reading at school. He tried so hard to read and still he couldn´t, but he didn´t gave up. He also tried to reach out for help but he didn´t get any help by teacher or others student´s. He tried for years and the hard work, and finally Joel achieves his goal. He was the best in his class, he had high grades and was the best reader at his school. After many years he became a doctor, and the money he earned by being doctor he started a tutoring service with Homework Help. In the Homework Help there where more than 170 children getting help, poor children achieve higher grades, university students as teachers, and because of his great idea, now many people copied and do the same as his idea - and that’s why Joel Davis was nominated as the Young People of the Year 2014. I´m as an interviewer is impressed that Joel never gave up on his dreams and goals, and I´ve learned that you should never give up no matter how low and depressed you are in your life.
