The story is about the boy who is called Link, though we don’t know for sure if that is his true name, at the start of the story, Link lives with his mother and stepfather, but due to issues with his stepfather he decides to run away. He gets to London to get a new life and a place to live, yet he could neither find a job or a place to live, due to the high rent, and ends up on the streets as well as other homeless people. Link finds the life on the streets rough, but gets new friends Gail, who is an undercover journalist and Ginger, who is also homeless like Link, and the two of them are sticking together to survive the rough life, until Ginger disappears. That’s when we meet Shelter, who is a former military man. Shelter has some problems and is on the look for homeless people to kill in order to make an “Army of homeless people.” At the end Shelter tries to kill Link but is saved by Gail.
Link in general seems like a decent guy, he is a good friend to Ginger and is also worried and looking for him when he disappears. Link is close to be the complete opposite person as Shelter, where Shelter is obsessed with killing and violence, Link is more shy and is trying to avoid trouble. He is also trying to improve his life, and is hoping for a better future, compared to Shelter, who is clearly having mental problems and not a bright future towards him.
