Hello everyone my name is Calvin, I’m a student at the London School of Economics and Political Science. I'm honored to be here today and make this speech about immigration in Brittain and how it affects the country. In this speech, I will be talking about the following topics: economic, social, cultural, and political aspects of UK immigration and give my opinion on the topic and present some statistical facts about the topic.
So before we start to talk about wheter immigration is good or bad for Britain let’s look at some numbers first. Immigrant levels are on the rise due to the wars against terror groups in the Middle East. Large amounts of people are fleeing to the EU in hope of a better life and better job opportunities. At the beginning of the decade a whopping 252.000 people immigrated to the UK, and last year 2013 hitting 260.000 the immigration level is on increase and this is worrying for many citizens.
In an authoritative survey of more than 20,000 people, more than 60 % of people answered that they felt that the immigrants did more harm than good. And only one in 6 believed that Brittain benefitted from the immigrants which is a shockingly low number. Many people fear that the immigrants could take some jobs that were meant for British workers.
