The Amish is a very outdated community, with no technology.
They are very closed off, and don’t leave their community.
The boys wear pants, suspenders, and white shirts, while the girls wear dresses, scarfs, and buns.
In the Amish-society they take the bibles word and live without electricity and other modern inventions. A life in full agreement with god and nature.
As said before, the Amish does not use electricity. That decision did the Amish not take because they saw it as cruel, but because they’re gaining access to the rest of the world, and that could result in temptations and in the long run it could ruin the church and family life.
That means that the Amish does not own cars, as it will result in inequality and division in the society, because expensive cars can be a status symbol.
In certain hazards the Amish can use electricity for limited time if it doesn’t ruin the social structure. That means that they can get driven in a car to the doctors or to visit family, just like it’s allowed to use a phone in case of an emergency or to call a family member to inform about death or disease.
