Shaun is a good example of young people, who become interested in youth groups. He is bullied, and believes that he doesn’t fit in. People, who are a part of certain youth culture, are mainly youngsters like Shaun who’re missing care, attention or realization. But in a gang or a group they are respected, a little bit at least. And that’s the reason why many people stay in gangs or groups, although they have to be criminal or do other things contrary to their beliefs. Those disaffected groups are a big problem to the society. Many of them use a lot of time doing vandalism, graffiti, bother strangers on the street, etc. and in some case, just because they’re bored.
I think it’s often that people who joins youth groups, is described as misfit or troublemakers. For instance, autonomous or skinheads had got a reputation for being violent or rebellious. But some youth groups, which are perceived as peaceful, could among other have political conviction, or supporting the environment. If you’re in a group like one of the aforementioned, I believe it’s good and will only strengthen you, if it’s because of you’re opinions and attitudes. If you’re seeking a gang or group, because of you’re lack of care or attention, then I’m convinced that it will only affect you badly.
