The main character is Jamal Malik, with his brother named Salim. Their mother is killed during Hindu–Muslim revolt in their childhood. Then they meet Latika who also orphan. As street children seduce by gangster boss Maman to earn money. They escape from Maman but Latika doesn’t make it.
Years after Jamal works in a call center, one day he grabs the phone and call to Salim. They meet somewhere. Salim works for Javed as a gangster. Jamal finds out Latika live like a slave for Javed. Jamal tells her that he will waiting for her in a station. Latika tries to escape from Javed but Javed’s men kidnap her. And the last possibility to retrieve Latika was he had to stand up to TV-show”Who wants to be millionaire?”, as he knows that she watch it at home at Javed. And he did, and he answers all the questions right, on that time. Salim has a guilty conscience about everything that he releases Latika, and kills him in bathtub with a lot of money. Jamal is while doubt about the last question and he calls Salim to ask. Latika answer, but she doesn’t know the answer, so Jamal guess and ultimately he winds all the 20 millions rubies and Latika.
