These scenarios might sound very unrealistic or distant to many. Yet for some people, this is

reality. This is what happens to the main character in the short story “Mr. Kleinman’s’ cat”

story. The story is told from a third-person perspective, which allows the reader to come into

Mr. Kleinman’s thoughts and felling’s.” where we follow Mr. Kleinman throughout the story.

The story is set in Notting hill in London, where he lives in a small and dusty flat, we get the

impression that he doesn’t live in the best conditions. Mr. Kleinman lives alone, and doesn’t

have anyone to come over, with results in that his home smells like cat, his cat is the only

family he has “it was the smell of home” (page. 2 lines. 16). The smell we would avoid living in

makes Mr. Kleinman feel safe, and positive.
