We had just finished packing the boat and were now on our on way to our “going-away-party”. Emily, Rebecca and I have spent our whole life sailing together and had now saved up an off money to buy a boat, so we could fulfil our dream about sailing across the world. We were all so excited! Early next morning, we were about to sail and was just checking that we had everything we needed. It was a beautiful morning and there was just an off wind. We said our sails, waved goodbye and not long after, we were a long way land. It all went just like we expected, until when we reached the pacific. It had taken us 17 days going, but for each day, the weather kept getting worse. We didn’t wake up to a clear sky and a perfect wind anymore. Now it was a grey sky and once it has blown so much we could glimpse a water spout in the horizon. But this day was the worst. We were in the middle of the sea and haven’t seen land for three days. It was almost dark, when it started to get very windy. The wind meter sometimes showed 24 m/s. The waves started to get bigger and bigger and every fifth second, a wave covered the boat with water. For many hours, the three of us did everything we could, but we started to consider calling mayday because we couldn’t see the end of this horrible night. Just as Emily has been down stairs to call for help, a huge wave came over us and tipped the boat over. It all happened so fast, but somehow we all managed the grab the boat before it got away. Luckily we were all okay. We grabbed each other’s hands, so we didn’t get lost. The water was freezing and I hoped our wetsuits would stay dry. Emily shouted that the ones answering our mayday call said that they were already out nearby saving another boat from sinking. We tried to stay as come as we could, but there wasn’t an off time to relax before a new wave came over us.
