The story takes place in a poor village in the old England. A young boy named Eragon, lives with his uncle and cousin because his mom and dad left him when he was a little child. The uncle doesn’t have much food or money. Eragon is only 15 years old when his cousin have to leave the family. Eragon and his cousin is like brothers, so its hard for them both to say goodbye, much because there is a big change that they will never see each other again. One day when Eragon is out hunting, he finds a blue strong and lightning stone, A few days later, after a failed attempt to sell the stone, Eragon hears a old storyteller named Brom talking about the days with dragon riders. Eragon realizes that it is not a stone but actually a dragon egg.
A late night Eragon hear a funny noise and see the dragon egg hatches, out comes a little baby dragon, Eragon's hand touches the baby dragon's forehead he falls asleep.
Next morning when he wakes up he see a big silver scar on his hand. Him and the dragon named saphira makes a special friendship, after 2 days saphira learns to fly for the first time and when she got back she wasn’t a baby dragon anymore but a full grown up dragon, and she can now talk to Eragon through the mind. The old storyteller Brom seems to know a lot about dragons and that’s why Eragon tell Brom about Saphira. The evil King Galbatorix's send his servants, the Ra'zacs out to the little village to kill Eragon and destroy the egg, because it is the last dragon egg there exist in the world, except King Galbatorix’s dragon. Eragon, Brom and saphira escape the evil servants but Eragon’s uncle got killed by them. Now the big adventure begins.
