The Amish formed in 1693, and ever since they have been persecuted for their beliefs.
They were forced to leave Europe in their search for religious freedom and were invited to
come to the U.S where they found the freedom they wanted. They settled in Pennsylvania and other states, and since that they have lived quiet and peaceful.
Difference
The Amish are a minority group so they have to cope with all the prejudices about their way
of life. They separate themselves from mainstream society, and many people think it is
wrong to be different and you have to live like everybody else, but I think it is okay,
because if that is what you want then you are allowed to do it. They believe that if you don’t
have unnecessary things you will enjoy the things you have and spend more time with the family.
They enjoy working in the fields and being together with the family, and many have thoughts
about why they do it, but they choose to live this way and they don’t want to change it.
They live by the rule: Don’t do more than absolute necessary.
This way you don’t get stressed, and you can relax, and enjoy life as it is. Some people reject them, but I think they should have a lot of respect because they dare to be different.
