Last summer we rented a house in Wales. We had seen an add in a Danish newspaper, and after having discussed the family’s plans, we wrote a letter to that address. The owner answered, that the house was available in July, and after having studied the attached photos we decided to rent the house for 14 days. We ordered tickets for the boat from Esbjerg to Harwich, and the 30. of July we started, full of expectations.
The weather was nice, and the sea was calm, so we enjoyed the trip and arrived in Harwich in the middle of the day. On the trip through England, we passed several famous cities. We had tea in Cambridge, one of the two old university towns, and admired the beautiful, old buildings. When we neared Stratford-on-Avon, where Shakespeare was born, we started looking if there was a fitting place to stay for the night. We stopped at a very ordinary house with a sign out front. It said B. & B. We were well received, got two double bedrooms and slept well. After a huge breakfast with bacon and egg, roasted toast with marmalade and many pots of tea, the trip continued the following morning. Later that day we neared the Wallisian border. The landscape changed, and there were high hills ahead. In Wales, most road signs are written in two languages, Wallisian and English, because many Wallisians want a Wales which is independent from England. Thank god, most Wallisians speak English.
