The short story revolves around a person, who works at a pharmacy. He/she meets a female customer, who is very impatient and discontented with the service at the pharmacy, and he/she starts referring the female customer as “Bug Eyes”. “Bug Eyes” starts complaining about the latency and his/her work effort, therefore, he/she puts “Bug Eyes” in front of the line.
“Bug Eyes” needs medicine for her daughter, who suffers from leukemia and have a prescription for some pills. Her daughter can’t swallow pills and “Bug Eyes” want the medicine to be in liquid form. An amendment in the prescription is against the law, and he/she must call a doctor. The doctor approves the correction and “Bug Eyes” gets her daughter’s medicine.
They both realize, they haven’t been nice to each other and apologize for it. The main character ends their trouble, and gives a piece of advice about the medicine.
Composition
The short story consists mainly of six stages and it begins in medias res.
An opening, the reader gets to know the main character.
An inciting accident, the main character gets annoyed with ‘’Bug Eyes’’.
A rising action, the conflict increases between the main character and “Bug Eyes”..
The climax, the main character’s anger gets the best of her, and she yells at ‘’’Bug Eyes’’
