America´s first policy is today linked to Donald Trump; he is the president of the United States. Donald Trump used the words “America first” a lot during his campaign to be president for the United States. He also used the expression “Make America great again” which became his quote for the campaign to be president. According to Donald Trump and his understanding of the “America first”, it´s about promoting America´s interests and, in general, reduces involvement in other countries politics and as it reduces the involvement of other countries in American affairs. It is precisely this that has led the United States to withdraw from the major international cooperation agreements, and it has allowed them to increase their military budget. In this debating essay, there will be focus on the subject of “America first” and from different points of view. In addition, there will also be focus on the good and bad things about the America first politic. This debating essay will be about some of Donald Trump´s good and bad thing and some various numbers and studies.

In the article: “How Trump’s trade war affects working-class Americans” by Jeffrey Kucik (An associated professor in the School of Government and Public Policy), it says, that the United States and China has come into a trade war, because the president Donald Trump, believes that there is a unfair trade policy, Donald Trump believes that is has damaged the American workers. But why have this trade war so big effect on the working class in the United States? And it is the right thing and start a trade war about the tariff, when it harms the American workers. But what are tariff actually? According to Investopedia.com, tariffs are duties on imports imposed by governments to raise revenue, protect domestic industries, or exert political leverage over another country and it could also give some high consumer prices. According to Jeffrey Kucik and his article, the tariffs affect the working class in the following ways. The tariffs could bring many jobs in risk for the working class, much more than it help. Their costs are rising, and it will also mean that their competitiveness will be putting into risk. With other words it will mean that the tariffs would bring prices up on everything, so it will be hard for people there are in the working class to keep together on their life, as they already have it hard in advance. They will have a hard time op provide their family. I Personally think it´s completely wrong what Donald Trump has chosen to do by introducing these tariffs. It affects the weak in society in the United States way too much, plus the United States get problems with the trade war, they are in with China. According again to the article by Jeffrey Kucik. He means that the tariffs also will hurt the companies and have some bad consequences. As example he uses, that metals tariffs will hurt because, they use the metal to cars, aircraft and tractors. It means that all the manufacturer will have to pay much more for their products. As a mention earlier it will set many jobs and people in risk, because of the companies need to pay more money for their products. If the companies will have their economy to stick together, they need to fire some of their employees. This is not a popular thing, which Donald Trump is introducing, because that will bring the unemployment up again. According to Robert Reich (A professor of public policy) “Over 146.000 Americans will lose their jobs because of Trump´s trade tariffs” It juts puts it in a bigger perspective that it´s affecting a lot of people´s jobs with these trade tariffs and, as I said, it will have major consequences for the United States and its economy in the future if this development continues. Just to make a comparison, by 2015, the United States had 7 million people who were unemployed, and that´s 1.4 million more people than even live in Denmark. This is a relatively large proportion of the US population who were unemployed in 2015.
